Special Collections and Archives reading room

In response to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in our surrounding community, DU Libraries continues to work in close partnership with the University and our campus partners to take the necessary steps to protect and safeguard our community. The safety and wellbeing of our DU Libraries users and staff is our upmost priority.

Taking into consideration the public health recommendations for social distancing and potential reduced staff capacity in the short-term Special Collections and Archives will only be providing virtual reference services. Please email or call 303-871-3428 to schedule a virtual appointment, or visit to chat with an archives assistant.


Special Collections and Archives is located in the Ida and Max Fogel Family Reading Room, on the lower level of the Anderson Academic Commons building.

During Fall, Winter and Spring academic quarters the Reading Room is open from 9am-12pm and 1pm-5pm, closing daily from 12pm-1pm. During academic interterms, other University closures, and Summer quarter the Reading Room will be open from 1pm-5pm only. Please contact us at 303.871.3428 or email with any questions.

Special Collections and Archives can be used in the Fogel Family Reading Room (AAC 101) and do not circulate. Appointments can be made to view Special Collections materials Monday through Friday. Some Special Collections and Archives materials are stored off-site, and require a minimum of 24 hours/1 business day to retrieve, and potentially up to 48 hours.
