Computers in the Library
Computers are available in Penrose Library for members of the university community, but some have particular uses. You will also find network jacks to use with your own laptop computer, and wireless coverage throughout the building.
Wireless
The campus wireless network is designed to supplement wired campus connections. The library provides wireless coverage within the building. There is also a wireless signal to the south of the building on the green. Use of the wireless network requires special configuration. Please visit the University Technology Services (UTS) Help Desk in the library for assistance or visit http://ivpnweb.cair.du.edu/

Network Ports
Penrose provides over 100 network connections for laptop users. A map is available that shows their locations. Look for jacks in group study rooms, open seating areas, on pillars, and in faculty studies. Network cables are available on the main floor from the Reference Desk. For help with special configuration requirements, see the UTS Help Desk web page, call the UTS lab (303-871-4700), or call the Library Systems Office (303-871-2465) during business hours. Please report all non-functioning connections to Library Systems at the phone number above or email library-support@du.edu.

UTS Lab and Help Desk
The UTS Computer Lab and Help Desk provide computers for student use. A DU ID is required to use the lab. Printing, Tech Support, and Laptop ports are provided in the lab. The lab is located in the northwest corner of the main floor. More information is available from the UTS web pages. You may also call 303.871.4700 or send an online inquiry

Printing
The University of Denver requires a valid DU Pioneer ID card to print to public printers. Two are located in the reference area of the library; two are located in the lab area. Current students with a valid DU ID card are allotted 300 pages of "free" printing each quarter. Students requiring additional printing can print at a cost of 7 cents per page. Charges will be deducted from your flex account. For details on depositing money to your flex account visit: https://web3.onlinecardoffice.com/udenver/ Remember to bring your DU ID with you to the library in order to print.

Research Help Center
Research Help Center area workstations are intended for library-related research and do not have productivity software such as Microsoft Office. Use the UTS Lab computers or the Research Instruction Room for work requiring word processing or similar activities.

Research Instruction Room
The Penrose Library Research Instruction Room is located at the stairs, next to Quick Copy.

This room is scheduled by Library faculty for research instruction classes, Writing Program workshops, CTL workshops, or UTS classes, with research instruction classes taking priority. To schedule a library-related class, faculty and instructors should fill out the course related library instruction form or contact the Research Help Center at 303-871-2905.

The room is NOT available for others to reserve for classes. If faculty need a room they should contact Multimedia Services at x1-3595 to book one of the computer labs in Sturm Hall.

Students may use the room for word processing, etc., (overflow from UTS), if no library instruction class is scheduled for the room.

Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL)
The Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) encourages and supports faculty innovations in teaching and learning through funding of initiatives, seminars, awards, and educational technology support. Their offices are located in the southeast corner of the library on the second floor. View the CTL's website or call 303.871.2763
