Publisher’s Description:

There are materials on the various causes, including deregulation, congressional attempts to “band aid” the “festering” S&L problem, and federal efforts to prop-up failing S&Ls, implementation of the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act of 1989, federal seizure and liquidation of insolvent thrifts, prosecution of S&L management for fraudulent lending practices, and congressional support for a bailout.”

Source material comes from the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library.

New Version of Encore Catalog Search

Monday, January 9th, 2012

Last week Penrose upgraded the default catalog search, Encore, to the newest version.  This version comes with several changes and improvements.

Encore is the default search for finding items in the Penrose Library catalog from the Books and More tab on the library’s homepage.

Conducting a search in Encore will take you to a results screen with the new display.  One noticeable change to the look, aside from new fonts and colors, is that the tag cloud has disappeared from the right-hand side of the screen and become a list of tags on the lower left-hand side of the page.

Library users will be happy to note that this new version of Encore allows multiple items to be requested at the same time.  Just place each item in “My Book Cart” by clicking “Add To Cart.”

More detailed instructions can be found here.

The new version of Encore now also offers an Advanced Search option.  You will see a link to this under the search box on the top of the results screen.  Classic Catalog is still available via a link on the Books and More tab of the library’s homepage.

Two other changes to popular tools are

  • A link to Prospector (rather than a button) is at the top right of the results page.  There is also a Prospector button on the lower left under “Other Sources.”
  • To export to RefWorks, you must be in the record for a specific item

If you have questions or need assistance using the Encore catalog, please contact the Research Center, seven days a week!
