Do you have study guides for standardized tests?

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Yes, Penrose Library has a number of reference books and databases to help you prepare for taking standardized tests, such as the PRAXIS, LSAT, GRE, GMAT, or MCAT.  One of the most helpful resources is a database called LearningExpress Library.  LearningExpress Library is a comprehensive, interactive online learning platform of practice tests and tutorial course series designed to help you succeed on academic or licensing tests. You’ll get immediate scoring, complete answer explanations, and an individualized analysis of your results.   The database includes practice tests for the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, TOEFL and more. Create an account to have the database keep track of which practice tests you have already taken.  To access LearningExpress Library, go to the library’s homepage and then look under the Databases link.

In addition to the online testing in LearningExpress, you may also want to check out some print or electronic study guides.  To find study guides, conduct a keyword search in the library’s book catalog for a specific standardized test.  It is often helpful to search for the full name of the test rather than just the abbreviation (i.e. Graduate Record Examination instead of just GRE).

Finally, the Career Center also has a list of some test preparation resources, including a few test preparation classes.
