The Dance Collection, endowed by the Carson Brierly Giffin Dance Library, contains a wide variety of materials in multiple formats covering all forms of dance, with a focus on dance in the Rocky Mountain region.
Forms of dance covered in the collection include: social, theatre, ethnic, ritual, and dance-drama. Also represented are resources on theater history and design, costumes, kinesiology and dance therapy. Formats include: rare books, souvenir programs, photographs, video tapes, posters, musical scores and oral histories.The Department's largest collection, the Lloyd Shaw Foundation Dance Archives, contains over 700 boxes of materials on folk dance.
