| This advocacy council is comprised of
representatives of several Special Collections and Archives support
groups. They work together on fund raising and events specifically
supporting the Penrose Library’s Special Collections and Archives.
Members include representatives from:
Women’s Library Association and Friends of Penrose Library
For nearly 45 years, the WLA has supported the library’s collections
with proceeds from membership, events, and book sales. Current representatives
are Sandee Walling and Betty Carey.
Carson-Brierly Dance Library Board
The Board is dedicated to the support of the Carson-Brierly
Dance Library, which is now one of the Penrose Library’s
Special Collections, and features photographic and documentary information
about dance. Current representatives are Esther Kenny and Glenn Giffin,
Dance Curator.
Transportation Collection
Linked to the Intermodal Transportation Institute, this collection
is housed off-site, and contains a large amount of historical material
on rail and other transportation modes. Current representative is
John Betz.
The Colorado Women’s College Archive Committee
The University of Denver gives great importance to the archival collection
documenting the history of the Colorado
Women’s College, which was acquired by the University of
Denver in 1982. The current representative is Sally Cayzer
The Beck Archives and the Rocky Mountain Jewish Historical
Society
The Center for Judaic Studies
is a unit of the University of Denver working in concert with the
RMJHS, and the
Beck Archive
is a very large collection documenting aspects of Jewish History in
the Rocky Mountain West. The current representatives are Sharon Elfenbein
and Dr. Jeanne Abrams, Curator.
The Music Library, Lamont School of Music
Part of the Penrose Library, the Music Library contains many special
resources, and along with the Lamont School of Music, receives support
from the Lamont Music Associates. The current representatives are
Jenene Stookesberry and Suzanne Moulton Gertig, Music Librarian.
University Archives
Documenting the history of the University of Denver, these resources
include all student and departmental publications and papers. Current
representatives are Jerome and Su Ryder.
