Political Papers at the University of Denver
Special Collections & Archives

The Political Papers Collection consists of the papers of Congressmen, Governors and individuals who participated in the political life of the State of Colorado and the United States Government. Many of the collections have a special emphasis on issues important to Colorado and the West, such as water rights and natural resources.

Among the collections are those of several graduates of the University of Denver Law School, i.e. Wayne N. Aspinall (U.S. Representative 1948-1973), John A. Love (Colorado Governor 1963-1973), James D. (Mike) McKevitt (U. S. Representative 1971-1973), and Byron Giles Rogers (U.S. Representative 1951-1971). Other collections include Peter H. Dominick (U. S. Senator 1963-1975), Daniel Schaefer (U. S. Representative 1983-1999) and Governor Edwin C. Johnson's papers covering his years as a Commissioner on the Upper Colorado River Commission (1957-1969). The papers accumulated by former University of Denver Chancellor Maurice Mitchell as a member of the U. S. Commission on Civil Rights from 1968 to 1974 will be made available as soon as an inventory is available.
