Scope of Project
The Archaeological Survey of the High Western Plains is a collaboration
between the University of Denver Penrose Library Archives Department
and the University
of Denver Museum of Anthropology. As part of the Etienne B.
Renaud Collection, the Archives holds the field notebooks that Renaud
maintained during the archaeological field expeditions that he conducted
from 1929 to 1941. The Museum of Anthropology holds within its collection
many of the artifacts that were collected during these expeditions.
The Renaud Digitization Project was designed to make the notebooks
and a selection of the artifacts available to the wider public via
the Internet.
Each page of the notebooks, as well as the reports that were published
as a result of the expeditions, was scanned and is available through
this web site. A selection of the artifacts collected during the expeditions
were photographed, and the slides scanned. The images are linked to
the related notebooks and reports.
The Renaud digitization project was funded in part by the Colorado
Digitization Project.
